Not only is the New Zealand Packaging Accord 2004 significantly broader than its predecessor, its operation will reflect the greater involvement in that an independent Governance Board, supported by and independent Secretariat will oversee its implementation and ongoing operation.
The Governance Board has representatives from the packaged goods industry through the Packaging Council (5 representatives), Central Government (1 representative), Local Government New Zealand (1 representative) and the recovery industry (1 representative through RONZ - the Recycling Operators of New Zealand).
